Every conference is in postseason play this week, besides the 6A.
The games were wild throughout the state.
Primetime Thursday
The lone Thursday bout was the Battle for Arizona Ave between Chandler and Hamilton.
The Wolves walked away victorious, 31-24. This backed up a decision to run through Hamilton’s cheer tunnel in pregame that rose emotions early.
NEVER I HAVE I EVER SEEN THIS
Chandler just ran onto the field right past Hamilton’s players and through the tunnel lined by the Huskies band and cheerleaders
These two schools do NOT like each other…

This game likely cements Chandler as a top 2 seed in the open division when the bracket drops on Saturday.
6A finales
The open division rankings are going to be interesting.
Basha dropped its third game of the season, losing to Perry 41-38 in a back and forth thriller.
Liberty beat Centennial, 21-14.

We assumed the top 4 in the open (with one left out) would be some order of: Chandler, Liberty, Centennial, Basha and Hamilton. While that hasn’t changed, the losses by three of them do make things interesting.
Now outside of Chandler and Liberty, there is a lot in the air. I’d assume Centennial gets the third seed and Hamilton gets the fourth, but there’s no guarantee.
Brophy beat Higley 47-29. Jason Jewell’s Broncos have been sneaky good this year with a young, developing offensive line. Depending on their first round match up, they’ve got a shot to make a run in the Open.
Higley still seems like a team destined for a long 6A run to Sun Devil Stadium…
Westwood took down Salpointe Catholic, 22-14. That means the back end of the 6A bracket could look very interesting…
Playoffs??
First, shoutout Maryvale for winning 35-0 over ALA West Foothills in its first postseason game in 17 years.
More can be found here on that, as the Panthers advance in 4A to take on number four Bradshaw Mountain.
11 seed Eastmark barely escapes Marcos de Niza, 23-21.
In 5A, 20 seed Sunrise Mountain took down Campo Verde, who was without star quarterback Jonah Lubno.
19 seed McClintock moves on after defeating Chaparral 28-14. It’s year two under Nick Offenberger and the explosive Chargers made a statement. It’s the programs first playoff win since 2008. Things are looking up for one of the most historic programs in Arizona.
