Three months later, concrete plans are taking shape for Fanomenon, the K-pop mega-festival that’s expected to feature performances from Hybe, SM, YG, and JYP artists.
South Korea’s Presidential Committee on Popular Culture Exchange, which formed this past October, just recently provided an official update about Fanomenon’s festival component and a couple adjacent initiatives.
More on the latter in a moment; as we noted back in April, live music is the main draw at Fanomenon, which is receiving support from the government (including but not solely on the tourism side) and, via the committee, leading K-pop players alike.
Now, organizers have confirmed that the marathon happening will span 11 days, December 2nd through the 12th of 2027, at the Seoul Arena as well as the Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX) in nearby Goyang. The Seoul Arena, in which Kakao has an interest, is being constructed with K-pop front of mind and is reportedly set to open in May 2027.

While it probably goes without saying in light of the 11-day duration and dual sites, Fanomenon appears poised to pull out all the stops.
According to the Korea Times, attendees will have access to “immersive showcases” and “hands-on experiences” across not only music, but cuisine, beauty, fashion, gaming, and a whole lot else.
Regarding live performances, K-pop’s biggest names have from the outset been expected to take the stage at Fanomenon, which hasn’t yet revealed its lineup. However, JYP founder J.Y. Park, who co-chairs the aforementioned committee, has disclosed plans to also book prominent international talent.
Returning to the “adjacent initiatives,” Fanomenon will include an awards show – a significant point given BTS’ Grammys boycott. “Fandemonium” awards will be handed out based on concrete consumption and fandom data, Park said in more words; artists themselves will accept on behalf of their superfans.
“Our goal is an awards show where nobody can say, ‘I’ll go if I’m getting an award and skip it if I’m not,’” he continued, per the Korea Herald’s translation. “If everyone understands that the organizers have no room to manipulate anything, that kind of pressure can’t exist.”
Seoul is expected to host the awards component annually, but the Fanomenon Festival is being teed up to visit cities around the globe, per the same outlet.
Assuming all goes according to plan, following the initial outing in Seoul and Goyang in December 2027, May 2028 will see Fanomenon arrive in Los Angeles.
Longer term, the committee is plowing full steam ahead with plans to construct “K-culture centers” in various international cities. Each of these centers will combine a 20,000-capacity venue, merch stores, and “exhibition space for Korean companies and government offices,” the Herald indicated.
