Sean “Diddy” Combs will spend even less time in prison after his release date was moved up again, with his release now slated for January 24, 2028.
It looks like Diddy will be spending even less time behind bars after his release date was moved up for the second time in just over a month. The 56-year-old rapper and mogul was found guilty last year of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.
Though he avoided more serious charges, including a racketeering charge and two sex trafficking counts, Combs was sentenced to 50 months in prison and a hefty fine.
Originally, he was expected to be released in May 2028, but his legal team has been hard at work challenging the conviction. They assert he was treated unfairly at trial and have attempted to have his sentence thrown out altogether. So far, they’ve successfully gotten his release date moved several times.
According to data from the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Combs’ release date was moved to February 23, 2028, last month. Now it’s listed as January 24, 2028.
Combs was previously hoping for a pardon from Donald Trump, but that was reportedly not in the cards for him. Particularly because 50 Cent reminded the president that Combs had been an outspoken critic of his administration. But now, rumors circulate that a pardon from Trump is once more on the table.
That possibility also reportedly exists for The Fugees’ Pras Michel, who was convicted on foreign lobbying-related charges. Both potential pardons may be part of a larger planned effort by the White House to issue “250 pardons for 250 years” as part of ongoing Independence Day celebrations.
Combs and Trump used to know one another socially, as New York City businessmen who enjoyed second careers in reality TV. But Trump said the two had lost touch after he entered the realm of politics.
“I haven’t seen him. I haven’t spoken to him in years,” said Trump. “He used to really like me a lot, but I think when I ran for politics, that relationship busted up, from what I read.”
