Ticketmaster has launched in Uruguay and has agreed to a strategic acquisition of RED UTS, a local ticketing platform. The move expands Ticketmaster’s regional footprint while tying local market know-how to its global technology stack.

Ticketmaster says the new setup is meant to make discovering, buying, and accessing live events in Uruguay a “simpler, safer, and more transparent” process for fans. Ticketmaster Uruguay is already live at the Ticketmaster.uy domain, with fans able to create accounts ahead of upcoming on-sale events.

The move marks another notch in Live Nation Entertainment’s broader Latin America strategy, where the company is pairing ticketing expansion with venue development. Live Nation recently announced plans for a 21,000 capacity venue in São Paulo. The company describes the developmetn as Brazil’s first purpose-built, world-class indoor arena. Construction is expected to begin later this year, with an opening targeted for 2028.

Ticketmaster’s big push into Latin America also comes at a time when it is facing increased scrutiny at home, despite the US DOJ settling with Live Nation over monopoly allegations. A federal jury found both Live Nation and Ticketmaster liable for monopolistic practices after a bipartisan coalition of state attorneys general pursued the case against the ticketing giant despite the DOJ’s settlement. Prior to those cases, Digital Music News highlighted how Ticketmaster profited up to three times on resold tickets before the platform shut down its controversial TradeDesk ticket reseller program.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Uruguay to the Ticketmaster network,” adds Javier Parra, Market Leader, Chile & Uruguay for Ticketmaster. “Our goal is to give every fan a simple, secure and transparent experience—from discovering an event to walking through the venue gates. We look forward to supporting the continued growth of live entertainment in Uruguay and connecting more fans with the artists and events they love.”

“At Ticketmaster, we’re constantly working to make the journey from discovering an event to walking through the venue gates as seamless as possible,” adds Adam Newsam, EVP Latin America for Ticketmaster. “Our expansion into Uruguay reflects that commitment, combining technology, innovation and local expertise to deliver a better experience for fans while supporting the continued growth of live entertainment across Latin America.”
