Could Paul Feig (‘Spy’) be preparing to blow the bloody doors off? Okay, so that phrase is specifically tied to the original (and, er iconic) 1969 heist movie ‘The Italian Job.’
But if Paramount Pictures has its way, Feig will be revving up Mini Coopers for a sequel to the remake of that movie, also called ‘The Italian Job,’ which landed in 2003.
Deadline reports that right now, it’s very early days for the sequel, with the studio figuring out a deal with Feig and meeting writers to hear pitches on how the story (more on that below) could continue.

What was the story of ‘The Italian Job’?
The 1969 original starred Michael Caine as Charlie, a crook with a job to do. Having just left prison he finds one of his friends has attempted a high-risk job in Torino, Italy, right under the nose of the mafia.
Charlie’s friend doesn’t get very far, so Charlie takes over the “job.” Using three Mini Coopers, a couple of Jaguars, and a bus, he hopes to bring Torino to a standstill, steal a fortune in gold and escape in the chaos…
The 2003 version saw Mark Wahlberg as a new take on the Charlie character, one who’d pulled off the crime of a lifetime. The one thing that he didn’t plan on was being double-crossed.
Along with a drop-dead gorgeous safecracker (Charlize Theron), Croker and his team take off to re-steal the loot and end up in a chase that careens up, down, above and below the streets of Los Angeles.
What else is Paul Feig working on?
Feig is currently busy preparing to direct ‘The Housemaid’s Secret,’ the sequel to his 2025 hit ‘The Housemaid.’ Stars Sydney Sweeney and Michele Morrone will return, and a fresh ensemble is gathering around them.
