What To Know: Bailey was a unanimous All-American last season for Texas Tech, recording a Division I-best 14.5 sacks and a Big 12-best 19.5 tackles for loss. FOX Sports NFL analyst Rob Rang praised the Jets’ selection: “Finishing dead last in the AFC in sacks, the Jets made the right choice to add this year’s top pass-rusher. Bailey’s burst and bend off the edge is elite. He is a realistic Defensive Rookie of the Year candidate who projects as a 10-plus sack-a-year difference-maker.” Bailey immediately showed his potential in his first five career games.
What To Know: Arvell Reese was drafted with the fifth pick in the 2026 NFL draft, and so far, he’s living up to the expectations. In Week 3, he tallied 10 solo tackles against the Titans and assisted on three others. He also has recorded one interception and four tackles for loss so far in his rookie season.
What To Know: Jacob Rodriguez was the favorite on the oddsboard after Week 3 but now, after five weeks, he’s third on the board. One of his best games so far came against the Vikings in Week 4. In that contest, he recorded 18 total tackles (nine solo, nine assists). The Dolphins’ second-round pick has emerged as an unexpected contender for the award. If Rodriguez wins, he would become the second consecutive DROY selected outside the first round and just the fifth since 2000.
What To Know: Three Ohio State Buckeyes were selected in the first seven picks, including linebacker Sonny Styles at No. 7. Styles made his presence felt right away, recording four tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack and a quarterback hit in his NFL debut against the Eagles. But the highlight came when he bulldozed Saquon Barkley on his way to his first career sack. Then, in Week 3, Styles dominated in the Commanders win over the defending Super Bowl champs, adding five more tackles, two passes defended, one QB hit, one fumble forced and his first career interception. In Washington’s Week 5 tie with the Giants, he recorded four solo tackles and assisted on nine.
