Jake Fraser-McGurk has reignited his quest for an international recall, shattering records with a spectacular century to lead South Australia to victory in the One-Day Cup.
Regarded as one of Australia’s most explosive batters, the 24-year old lost his place in both the ODI and T20I team in 2025, having made just one century and averaged 14 across 15 matches in the limited-overs formats.
But opening the batting at Adelaide’s Karen Rolton Oval, Fraser-McGurk bashed ten fours and nine sixes against an undermanned Queensland attack for a whirlwind 63-ball 122 to remind selectors of his ability to clear the fences 12 months out from the World Cup.

Five of those sixes came in reaching 50 off just 14 balls, the fourth-fastest ever recorded in List A cricket and the fastest in Australia.
He slowed down from there as leg-spinner Mitchell Swepson proved tougher to hit, but still brought up three figures off 49 balls, the third-fastest ever in an Australian one-day match – if well short of the staggering 29-ball record he set three years ago that propelled him into the international mix.
Both centuries came at the Karen Rolton Oval, where he averages 68.66 with a strike rate north of 200 – figures that comfortably eclipse an average of 20.55 with just one half-century in 32 List A innings at other venues.
Fraser-McGurk put on 129 for the opening wicket with Mackenzie Harvey off just 69 balls, and was remarkably dismissed by the 21st over, with the Redbacks’ score approaching 200.
Nathan McSweeney scored a measured 106 off 103 balls to continue his exceptional run of form following on from his work with Australia A on their recent tour of India, to set the Bulls a whopping 398 for victory.
It was McSweeney’s third List A century, and his second in just four matches.
They never got close, with Lachlan Hearne’s defiant 121 in vain as they were bowled out in 40.1 overs for a gallant 271, to seal a 126-run Redbacks win.
Quick Spencer Johnson, another recent limited-overs international, took his maiden List A five-wicket haul, including bowling Hearne with a vicious yorker to end his 104-ball resistance and the match.
Fraser-McGurk made international headlines with a stunning run of form at the 2024 IPL, where he averaged 36 at an eye-watering strike rate of 234.04 with four half-centuries.
However, he crashed back to earth a year later with just 55 runs in six innings, before going unsold at auction for the 2026 tournament.
