Arizona State is coming off a rough performance against Texas Tech last Saturday where the Red Raiders scored 43 points in the first half.

There’s no rest for the Devils as Kansas State comes to town and Arizona State continues their nine-game post-bye sprnt.

Here are a few things Kenny Dillingham spoke about in his Monday availability:

Getting back to the fundamentals

When asked about the team’s recent struggles and what he is prioritizing, Dillingham said they are putting a focus on stopping the run on defense and running the ball effecitively on offense – two staples of this program over the past few years.

The Quarterback Room

All eyes will be on who is leading the Sun Devil offense this week against Kansas State. Cutter Boley was replaced by Mikey Keene at halftime. Keene threw for 256 yards and two scores against Texas Tech and was able to move the ball effectively.

Will the coaching staff view that as a quality relief appearance against a defense playing with a big lead? Or will they want to see if Keene can lead that spark against the Wildcats this week?

Facing Avery Johnson

The Sun Devils will face dual-threat quarterback Avery Johnson. Dillingham has not been shy about giving praise the Kansas State star, and he recruited him when he was coming out of high school.

Reed Harris Leadership

Dillingham also revealed that wide receiver Reed Harris has been added to the Pat Tillman Leadership Council. It’s rare for a player to be added to that council midseason, but Harris has been a positive factor on and off the field for Arizona State.

Harris currently leads the Big 12 in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.

Arizona State hosts Kansas State at 12:45 PM in Tempe on Saturday.
