After withholding her B-side tracks from streaming platforms, Charli XCX has released them on Apple Music—or as she still likes to call it, iTunes.
Earlier this year, Charli XCX said she was deliberately withholding the B-sides from her latest album, Music, Fashion, Film, from streaming platforms. At the time, the artist was only releasing them on limited-edition 7-inch vinyl and via her B-sides-specific Instagram account. Now, Charli has released three B-sides to tracks from the new album exclusively “on iTunes lol”—or Apple Music, as it’s now known.
“I made b-sides for each of the songs released ahead of Music, Fashion, Film, because it felt natural to pair each song with a fitting counterpart—something that’s adjacent to the album but not entirely part of it,” Charli wrote. “I felt adamant I wouldn’t put them on streaming because it sort of felt counter-intuitive to the whole ethos of those songs. But I know you all really wanted them, so I’ve begrudgingly put them on iTunes lol.”
The new songs—”I Keep On Thinking Bout You Every Single Day and Night,” “Playboy Bunny,” and “If You Take Away the Music Then What Has She Got?”—are available for purchase for $4.99, along with accompanying black-and-white music videos, and Music, Fashion, Film’s original 11 tracks.
“You can call me a hypocrite, I don’t mind,” the artist added with a winky-face. “Love you all and I hope you enjoy these special songs in your ears.”
The tracks were also previously shared with fans on Charli’s alt-account on Instagram, as well as being included as actual B-sides on limited-edition vinyl for her songs “Rock Music,” “SS26,” and “Camera.” They’re also included in the Music, Fashion, Film physical box set.
The album, her seventh studio release, debuted on Friday. Charli is taking the album on tour, with stops along the festival circuit including Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, Reading, Leeds, and more. She’s also making stops at arenas across the country like Barclays in Brooklyn and the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.
