Veteran Australian T20 batter Chris Lynn has served a one-month ban after testing positive for cocaine following Northamptonshire’s T20 Blast triumph in July, England’s Cricket Regulator has revealed.

The 36-year-old was handed the suspension in August, with details of the incident only now coming to light.

Further testing of Lynn’s urine sample at a laboratory in France confirmed the presence of benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine.

Lynn has since undergone a rehabilitation programme following the positive test.

Following the T20 Blast, Lynn travelled to Sri Lanka to compete in the Lanka Premier League, where he made just one appearance for Galle Gallants before being ruled out with an unspecified leg injury on July 29.

Just two days later, Lynn was informed by the Cricket Regulator that his sample had returned an adverse analytical finding, with the Australian provisionally suspended.

The former Australian international has enjoyed a lengthy T20 career, representing several franchises around the world, including the Brisbane Heat and Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League.
