Jay-Z delivered a historic two-night sold-out London run at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, celebrating 30 years since his debut album.
On Saturday, September 5, Jay-Z brought his two-night London run to a historic close at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, selling out both nights and delivering another career-spanning celebration in front of a packed stadium.
The set featured a dynamic mix of classics, fan favorites, and deep cuts from across Jay-Z’s catalog, with the set spanning three decades of music and marking 30 years of Reasonable Doubt and 25 years of The Blueprint. The night also brought a fresh lineup of special guest performers, including Sampha and Dave.
Jay-Z performed his top hits, including “Izzo,” “Empire State of Mind,” “99 Problems,” and more, setting the stage for another epic night of performances. The mogul brought out Sampha on “No Church in the Wild,” and UK rapper Dave performed his mega-hit “Raindance.” The second night also drew guests such as Madonna, Sabrina Elba, Central Cee, Tinie Tempah, KSI, Lucy Bronze, Vogue Williams, Little Simz, Katarina Johnson-Thompson, and Bashy.
The run marked Jay-Z’s first UK headline performance in almost 13 years, since his Magna Carta World Tour at The O2 Arena. It’s also the first time he’s performed in the city since he was on tour with his wife, Beyoncé, in 2018.
On Friday, the rapper also celebrated Beyoncé’s 45th birthday with fireworks and a crowd singalong. Beyonce’s birthday coincided with the 20th anniversary of her album, B’Day, which she re-released in a deluxe edition.
To celebrate his wife, Jay-Z took a brief intermission between songs and asked production if they had “the shot” of her on the Jumbotron. Once the superstar appeared, the crowd went wild at the sight of the 45-year-old smiling in a box suite with friends. Then, he began singing “Happy Birthday” as the crowd joined in. As they sang, a fireworks display began.
The couple have been married since 2008 and have three children together: daughter Blue Ivy, 14, and fraternal twins Rumi and Sir, 9. The family is known for keeping the details of their relationship out of the spotlight, but Blue Ivy has frequently performed as a backup dancer at many of her mother’s concerts, especially during her Renaissance and Cowboy Carter tours.
