Lady Gaga Thanks Bad Bunny For Super Bowl Invite: ‘Wouldn’t Miss It’

Nobody knew Lady Gaga was going to make a surprise appearance during Bad Bunny‘s historic, joyous Super Bowl LX halftime show on Sunday night (Feb. 8) in Santa Clara, Calif. But hours after shocking the crowd at the game and viewers at home with her salsa-fied “Die With a Smile” performance, Gaga said she wouldn’t have missed it for anything.

“It was my absolute honor to be a part of Benito’s halftime show,” wrote Gaga on Instagram early Monday morning (Feb. 9) along with a short clip of her performance, which included her crooning a completely revamped version of her Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 smash with Bruno Mars accompanied by a cadre of horn and percussion players.

“Thank you Benito for inviting me and thank you to the entire cast for welcoming me onto your stage,” Gaga continued. “I wouldn’t miss it for the world.”

It was Gaga’s third trip to the Super Bowl, following on her singing of the National Anthem in 2016 and headlining her own explosive halftime show the next year. And while Gaga’s cameo gave Benito’s already high-energy show the classic buzzy boost any surprise pop-in by a star of her caliber can, she made it all about honoring Bad Bunny and tailoring her performance to his spirit and vibe.

In addition to re-fashioning “Die With a Smile,” Gaga also dressed for the occasion in strappy red heels, a flowy blue strapless dress with a plunging neckline, ruffled skirt and an oversized red Flor de Maga brooch, an homage to the official flower of Puerto Rico. After her song, Gaga hopped down to show off her salsa moves by twirling around with Benito, before disappearing into the crowd as BB danced on to his hit “BAILE InoLVIDABLE.”
