Born in China, adopted in Arizona, and a 2025 graduate of Phoenix Country Day School, Mia Lovell has seized every day. From skateboarding, motocross, and now motorsports, Lovell has never been someone to let an opportunity pass her by.
The 19-year-old is in her rookie season in the ARCA West Series, one of NASCAR’s regional development series. This Saturday night, she’ll race at her home track, Phoenix Raceway, with the entire industry watching.
Unlike most drivers in the sport, Lovell wasn’t behind the wheel of a go-kart at five years old, she was on the four wheels of a skateboard. In 2019, Lovell won multiple gold medals at the California State Games and soon qualified for her first professional competition. As her skateboarding career was gaining momentum, the Coronavirus Pandemic brought everything to a halt. At 13 years old, instead of waiting for the world to resume turning, Lovell’s father brought her to their local racetrack and convinced her to climb behind the wheel, where she was instantly hooked.
Lovell now resides in North Carolina, attending college at Davidson and all-in on a career in racing with dreams of climbing up the ladder to join the ranks of the NASCAR Cup Series. But for now, she’s focused on being present, finding joy in the journey, and making the most of every day.
The speed and thrills of NASCAR returns to the Valley of the Sun, October 16-18 with the ARCA Menards West Series, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, and NASCAR Cups Series for a group of pivotal races in The Chase, NASCAR’s latest postseason format.
