Ellis played all 40 minutes in the game to score her 47 points on 67% shooting from the field, where she made seven three pointers.

She also stuffed the stat sheet with four rebounds, two assists and a remarkable six steals alongside one block.

Speaking post-game, Ellis was full of praise for her teammates and coaches.

“Oh my God,” an exhausted Ellis said.

“I mean, I’m just so proud of the girls, we came in, first half it wasn’t our half, but second half offensively, I thought we executed really well.”

When asked about her performance and the preparation before her record night, Ellis spoke about the preseason.

“We worked really hard in the off-season and I’ve got to give it to my teammates,” Ellis said.

“We go so hard every day but yeah, just an amazing effort by the girls, especially on this road trip.”

Ellis’ 47 points now has her ranked tied fifth overall in WNBL history with Belinda Snell (54), Julie Nykiel (53), Penny Taylor (52) and Lauren Jackson (48) ahead of her in the WNBL record books.

The defending champions now sit 1-1 on the fresh WNBL season as they look to repeat this season.
