Bori Akinola won heat 2 of the men’s 100m at Birmingham on Tuesday morning to qualify for this evening’s semi-finals.

Akinola, who ran a PB of 10.19 this season, came into his heat with the second fastest time of the season behind Belgian Simon Verherstraeten’s 10.12 seconds.

The Irish athlete’s qualifying time of 10.39 this morning was the fastest qualifying time over the three heats.

The UCD man, who won his first outdoor title at the National Track and Field Championships in 2025, will now join Israel Olatunde in the semi-finals this evening, which begin at 8.32pm.
