Boy George secures a partnership to release his single “We Will Dance Again” via Warner Music/ADA after the song was taken down from Bandcamp.

After Boy George’s controversial tribute to the victims of the attack at Israel’s Nova Music Festival, “We Will Dance Again,” was taken down from Bandcamp, the Culture Club singer vowed to find a way to get it released. Now, Warner Music Group’s ADA (Alternative Distribution Alliance) has announced a partnership with the artist.

Written after Boy George visited the Nova Music Festival Exhibition in London, the track is one of remembrance for the lives lost in the October 7, 2023 attack, while expressing solidarity with the Jewish people. Boy George has proudly celebrated diverse cultures and backgrounds throughout his trailblazing career of more than four decades and hopes the single will serve as a message of peace, compassion, and unity, as well as a poignant reminder of the devastating loss of lives.

“I wrote ‘We Will Dance Again’ after visiting the Nova Festival Exhibition in London, which compounded the horror of October 7,” said George. “Meeting the parents of victim Jake Marlow and survivor May Hayat, I felt compelled to speak up, and the song was born. I always feel I express myself best in my music. I have known and loved people who are Jewish all my life, and I feel strongly that the narrative about October 7, especially among my fellow musicians, is very one-sided, and I felt I needed to address it by highlighting what happened on that day.”

“All loss of innocent lives is tragic and horrific,” he added. “I support anyone calling for peace, and I believe my song is doing exactly that. The most important line in the song to me is ‘If you are confused, I stand with the Jews.’ That is not a political statement or a political opinion, as Judaism is a religion and not a government, but right now, with the rise in antisemitism, it feels like a very important thing to say.”

After enjoying a string of UK Top 10 singles with Culture Club, including the #1 hits “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me” and “Karma Chameleon,” Boy George launched a successful solo career and established himself as an internationally renowned DJ, performing around the world.

This November, he will perform two shows at Tel Aviv’s Menora Mivtachim Arena, with tickets selling out almost immediately. The concerts will serve as a special occasion for Boy George’s many Israeli fans, regardless of political affiliation. His decision to perform in Israel provides an opportunity for the artist to connect with audiences through music.

Following his shows in Israel, Boy George will embark on a UK arena tour with Culture Club ahead of next year’s 45th anniversary of their iconic debut album, Kissing to Be Clever. In May, he received a lifetime achievement award at the British LGBT Awards, which celebrates and champions the achievements of the LGBTQ+ community.

Warner Music Group said in a statement that it provides a platform for artists and songwriters across the world of all backgrounds, beliefs, and viewpoints and supports their creative freedom.
