Five months after their epic, dramatic first fight, Daniel Dubois and Fabio Wardley step into the ring again in London, with the former defending the WBO heavyweight world title he took that night.
In one of the fights of the year, Dubois recovered from being floored twice with an 11th-round TKO that he described immediately afterwards as a “war”.
With both Brits weighing in at their heaviest ahead of the rematch, Part 2 at London’s O2 Arena is set to be even more brutal.
Dubois v Wardley 2 | Sunday October 18 from 5apm AEDT | Watch Daniel Dubois and Fabio Wardley slug it out for the WBO heavyweight world title … again | Order now on Kayo Sports.
And while Dubois is the deserved favourite, Wardley says the close run he gave the world champion in May wasn’t for nothing.
“I draw confidence from the successes I had in the first fight – getting knockdowns in the first and third,” he said ahead of Sunday’s blockbuster.
He also made no secret of what he’s out for in the ring: “Revenge.”
The speedy nature of the rematch has taken many by surprise, with the image of a bloody and swollen Wardley sparking concerns over whether he has had time to recover from the punishment.
