Dolly Parton’s niece, the sister of the star’s ousted nephew and security guard, was reportedly fired by the state late last month.
The battle surrounding Dolly Parton’s estate rages on, with her niece—not the one recently named as brand ambassador—having been reportedly fired. Rebecca Seaver, the sister of ousted nephew and head of security Bryan Seaver, was responsible for overseeing the operations of Dolly Parton’s museum. Her firing arrives just weeks after the museum’s grand opening.
In addition, all of Seaver’s staff were fired alongside her, though the actual number of impacted employees remains unclear. The news comes amid continued controversy surrounding the estate that started unbeknownst to the public shortly before the singer’s passing in late August.
On September 22, Bryan Seaver, who had announced the singer’s death on Instagram, faced a restraining order filed against him by the estate shortly after he was removed from his duties. His company was responsible for security at the estate.
“Mr. Seaver began his campaign of threats, intimidation, and coercion a few weeks prior to Ms. Parton’s passing,” the filing read. “In writing, he vowed to ‘destroy the entire brand’ and also told her entertainment attorney, ‘I’m not an entertainment person; I’m a killer.’”
“Without relief, Defendants’ calculated campaign will continue to inflict fear, to destabilize (the brand’s) operations, and to cause further irreparable harm.”
Bryan Seaver has denied the allegations against him and claimed that his words, spoken in frustration to longtime friends and associates, were taken out of context. He also denied the estate’s claims that he had intentionally placed barbed wire and signs in front of his property to prevent being served legal documents. Seaver claimed his son had done so when he wasn’t home to deter the press.
It’s currently unknown what Rebecca Seaver is alleged to have done to warrant her firing. She has yet to comment on the matter as of Sunday night, but sources told TMZ late last week that the team overseeing Dolly’s estate terminated Rebecca Seaver and her team managing Dolly’s archive and museum operations.
Bryan Seaver previously wrote on Facebook that he was proud of his sister and of his cousin Danielle, the latter having been selected as the brand ambassador, for their work in their respective fields. At the time, he noted that there was “no feud between us. I love them both with all my heart.”
