It’s easy playing GM and Manager from the couch; it’s another when you have to decide whether Ketel Marte has played his last game in Arizona. Marte did not show up at Fenway Park for Monday night’s Diamondbacks game against Boston and was immediately placed on the restricted-without-pay list.
Marte has been a big part of the Diamondbacks’ push for the postseason, but this is the second time in the last 13 months that he has left the team. Manager Torey Lovullo was asked after the game when he knew there might be an issue coming with Marte: “When I woke up this morning.” He added, “I love him(Marte), and I care for him, and he’ll be ok.”
