Garth Brooks pulled the pre-sale for an extra performance in Kansas City, and now the affected Saturday matinee has been canceled altogether due to bot activity.
After Garth Brooks added more performances to his Kansas City tour schedule, the pre-sale for one of those shows was pulled after just 30 minutes due to rampant bot activity. Now, the Saturday matinee has been canceled altogether.
“Because of social media posts and our history with Kansas City, I felt we left people unable to get tickets on the original on-sale,” wrote Brooks in a post on his personal website. “I was the one who suggested we put a lower bowl Saturday matinee up for sale.”
Brooks said over 90,000 people were in the ticket queue for the Saturday matinee, but most turned out to be bots.
“The bot situation is out of hand,” Brooks wrote when explaining the decision to end the ticket sales for the Saturday matinee, noting that bot activity was “progressively getting worse on this tour.”
Brooks announced the extra performance on October 21 on his personal website, and tickets for that show went on sale via AXS at 10 AM before being pulled around 35 minutes later. His team’s shutdown notice appeared at around 10:35, followed by a message by Brooks himself at 10:49.
The country legend pulled the ticket sales for his October 11 show at Salt Lake City’s Delta Center after a similar 30-minute window, citing rampant bot activity. Those tickets were issued by SeatGeek, rather than AXS. However, Brooks assured those fans that the show would go on as scheduled and that their tickets were valid. Fans in Kansas City hoped that would be the case for the Saturday matinee, but that turned out not to be.
Brooks is still set to perform his originally scheduled Friday and Saturday night shows in Kansas City on November 6 and 7. After Kansas City, the tour will hit Seattle for four performances at Climate Pledge Arena from Thursday, November 12, to Sunday, November 15. Brooks added the Thursday show after announcing that “over 30,000 real people” were in the queue.
